Here Beginneth The Journey
First up, thanks for signing up to this, our latest newsletter, Cestrian ETF Select. We hope to bring to the ETF universe the exact same method of coverage we apply to tech, telecom, space and defense names in our other service lines. Which is to say dead inside. We neither love nor hate, like nor dislike any stock, ETF, or indeed fund manager. We don’t believe anything anyone tells us about why X is going to do Y because of exogenous factor Z, unless they’re saying it on CNBC in which case we just rotate the screen through 180 degrees or do a handstand or something and treat the opinion as Opposite Day. We also don’t care about the higher-level purpose allegedly served by fund A or manager B - carbon reduction, save the dolphins, world peace, whatever. Because we are pretty sure they don’t believe it either. Their focus isn’t dolphins. It’s, do I get to buy that Hamptons house this year or not. You know, the good one with the view. And our focus here is solely, is the ETF we are talking about likely to go up, or down, in which order and by how much.
